Bengal Engineering College Model School is the brainchild of some of the professors of Bengal Engineering College. It was established in the year 1954.Located in one of the biggest industrial metropolis of West Bengal this school stands as a hallmark of education. In 1955 it was affiliated by the District School Inspector, Howrah and was ascribed the name "Bengal Engineering College Model School". In 1956 it was upgraded to Junior High School sponsored by the Directorate of Education, West Bengal. Manifestly the ascension of this school was indeed uninterrupted. In 1957 it was further upgraded to Higher Secondary School affiliated by the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education. However, it stands to its credit now as a Promising Agent of Education-a Higher Secondary School (Class XI & XII) with two streams: (i) Science; (ii) Humanities. It has, again, two more branches at the elementary phase of education---Kinder Garten section and Primary section, that are, however, not government-aided. It has a total intake of 100 students per year with 60 students on roll in each class. It is fully equipped with modern laboratories and sufficient apparatus in each lab. |

The school is geared to provide an academic atmosphere to each individual student. This institution has been on the map of higher education for five decades. Established in 1954 in the B. E. College campus the school is booming with academic and extra-curricular activities. It also has a computer centre for catering to the needs of young aspirants. Aims and ObjectsThe Institution bears the object to impart education to its pupils in proper perspective, to help little boys and girls develop their inherent qualities, flourish their talents, and inculcate habits of independent observation and thought, to impress upon them regard for the best of Indian and Foreign Culture and not simply to subordinate these qualities to the preparation for examinations. It is hoped that under special care of teachers the taughts will gradually develop their nicer faculties and become the worthy citizens of India with training to shoulder their responsibilities in society in a manner befitting the tradition and heritage of our motherland. The school situated within the Bengal Engineering College campus has a sober natural surroundings of green gardens and landscape. Its activities always have the loving care of a number of intellectuals and well-wishers, living within and beyond the campus, who work for its development in all respects.
