From the BISHOP'S COLLEGE in the British Raj to Bengal Engineering College in Independent INDIA and then to the status of a Deemed University and finally to a State University has been a long journey. In the Year 1996, to celebrate the 140th year of foundation, we launched this Page to emphasize the contribution this college has made to the development of Engineering Studies and Technology in this country and abroad.Every year hundreds of students from this premier Institution form the creme-de-la-creme of administration , management and technocracy , both in the Public & Private sector corporations.

The Campus

The University has a beautiful green campus covering an area of nearly 49 hectares on the western bank of the river Hooghly ( a section of the river Ganges).

The Institute Building, accommodation for staff and students, campus amenities and services are the main components of the University campus.
