A Regional Workshop on ‘Industry-Academia Collaboration’ for Engineering Universities and national Industries was hosted by the Bengal Engineering and Science University, Shibpur on 20th& 21st June 2013 under the aegis of Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India. All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) & Confederation of Indian Industry (CII). Thought provoking presentations from leading universities, IIMs, NITs and eminent technologists from industrial houses enlightened the participants from twenty six engineering institutes including NITs and Universities in the Eastern and North Eastern Regions of India (who are funded by the World Bank) and more than thirty (30) industries.
The main aim was to create a platform where the participants took work in the deliberations to initiate a symbiotic strategy . The interaction focused on topics like ‘Collaborative research work’; ‘Continuing Education Programs both for academic institutions and industries’;’Creation of synergy amongst the partners who generate the technical knowledge resource’;’ Curriculum enrichment with the help of the experts from industries’ etc.
